| Q |
Where is Mahogany
Breeze located on the island? |
| A |
Mahogany Breeze is situated on
the island’s north shoreline within the gated community
of Mahogany Run Golf Course, engulfed in lush forest and tropical
flowers. Mahogany Breeze is on the ocean side of the property. |
| Q |
Where’s the closest beach
from the villa? |
| A |
Magen’s Bay Beach, one of
National Geographic’s Top 10 Beaches with a mile long
crescent shaped beach, is just 1 mile from the property. There
are several other beaches within short distances from the
property, including Hull Bay, Sapphire Beach & Coki Beach.
|
| Q |
What’s the Mahogany Run
community like? |
| A |
Like many properties on St. Thomas,
Mahogany Breeze is situated in a very private residential
area. If you plan on having a late night celebration, we ask
that you do so in one of our local nightspots rather than
at our villa. Most residents here go to bed at about 10 p.m.
and get up early. We will definitely hear about it if they
hear you blasting the speakers, so please be considerate of
our neighbors when it comes to any partying you may do while
on vacation. |
| Q |
Do you have any resources to help
me plan my trip? |
| A |
We have Guest Book onsite with
lots of information. However, we also suggest that you check
out www.stthomasthisweek.com to find out what is happening
on the island during the week of your stay. You can also
pick it up at the airport. Another good site for information
is www.vinow.com.

What are the Proof of Citizenship
Requirements? |
| A |
Per the US Customs & Border
Protection (add hyperlink here), there are no requirements
to enter the US Virgin Islands. To re-enter the United States,
US citizens are currently exempt from passport requirements.
However, it is highly recommended that a U.S. Citizen be
prepared to present documentation such as valid or expired
U.S. passport, U.S. birth certificate, or Naturalization
certificate to avoid delays. The Western Hemisphere Travel
Initiative will soon require all travelers to and from the
Americas, the Caribbean, and Bermuda to have a passport
or other accepted form of documentation to enter or reenter
the
United States. The program will be rolled out in phases.
The proposed timeline is as follows:
- December 31, 2006: Requirement applied to all air and
sea travel
to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America,
the Caribbean, and
Bermuda.
- December 31, 2007: Requirement extended to all land
border
crossings as well as air and sea travel.

| Q |
Should we rent a car while staying
on St. Thomas? |
| A |
To really enjoy yourselves
on St. Thomas, we highly recommend that you rent a car for
your vacation, otherwise you will spend a small fortune
using a taxi. Having your own rental car gives you the freedom
to do what you want, when you want. This way you will be
able to see and enjoy much more of St. Thomas. When traveling
to the US Virgin Islands, your foreign or U.S. driver's
license is valid here for 90 days. If you have NOT rented
a car for your arrival, you will then need to hire a private
taxi to take you and your luggage to Mahogany Breeze
If you are renting from rental agency within the airport,
you should get in line immediately after you land in St.
Thomas. It will take awhile for your luggage to come and
you can have your car arrangements completed and then get
your luggage. Be prepared for possible delays during this
process. Remember, it’s Island time!
When driving in St. Thomas, the same laws must be obeyed
as in the rest of the USA; with one BIG exception. You drive
on the left and not on the right. But the cars still have
the steering wheel on the left as in the states. Just remember
the saying, "Keep your shoulder to the shoulder"….and….you
CAN make a "left" on red. |

| Q |
What about utilities such as telephone,
air conditioning, etc? |
| A |
In most homes, the only source
of water is rainfall which is caught via the roof and stored
in a cistern beneath the house. Our property is partial
cistern & partial supplied water. Consequently, water
is not cheap. So help us conserve by never letting the water
run while washing up or brushing teeth, flush only when
necessary, and do your best to take short showers. PLEASE
report all plumbing issues including running toilets and
dripping faucets to us immediately!
Toilets & Plumbing: Due to the salty air, our
water and waste systems on the island are far more susceptible
to having issues than those in the U.S. To conserve water
we utilize water-saver toilets which make them too delicate
to handle anything out of the ordinary. For that reason
we ask that you do not flush any foreign objects or personal
hygiene products down the toilets!
Is the water safe to drink?: We do have a water
filtration system available at the kitchen sink, and although
we've never had anyone become ill by drinking from the tap,
if you have any suspicions, you may prefer to buy bottled
water and ice at the grocery store for drinking.
Telephone Calls: Phones are available for local
calls only. To make a long distance phone call, you must
have a calling card or use a cell phone. All local phone
calls are free of charge between St. Thomas, St. John and
St. Croix.
Power Outages: Occasionally we have power "outages"
which can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.
If your electricity goes out, there are flashlights and
matches for candles for your use. Please do not run any
water as the water is supplied electrically through a pump
and running faucets or flushing the toilet may cause the
pump to lose its prime and the water pipe system to become
air-locked. Please wait until power is restored before using
the water.
Air Conditioning Units: Although the north side
of St. Thomas receives a steady ocean breeze, there may
be times that you want to use the air conditioners to cool
down a bit more. AC units are provided in both of the bedrooms
as well as the living room. Although these are provided
for your added comfort, we do ask that you conserve energy
by turning the units off when you are not in the room or
when the room has been sufficiently cooled. The air conditioners
do a very nice job of bringing down the temperature very
quickly and the rooms will retain their coolness for some
time after the unit is off. |
| Q |
What kind of weather can we expect? |
| A |
On average, in the low 80s.
June, July and August tend to be the hottest months with
temperatures in the mid 80s and December through February
cooler months with high 70 degree temperatures.
Water temperatures in the Virgin Islands do not change
greatly from summer to winter, however the 4 or 5 degree
change is noticeable to those acclimated to consistently
warm tropical weather. In the summer months the water temperature
is about 83 degrees and in the winter about 79 degrees.
The Virgin Islands does not have a rainy season, however
there are month to month differences. The rainiest months
in the Virgin Islands are November, October, September,
August and May. Rainy months do not mean that there is continuous
rainfall every day all month long, in fact most daily rainfall
reports are below .10 inches. Rain showers are often short
and typically occur early in the morning or at night. On
a truly rainy day, it will rain off and on for the entire
day. All day downpours over numerous days are not common.
The driest months are typically February and March. |
| Q |
What happens if appliances break
or if there are other problems that need quick attention during
our stay? |
| A |

and you will be given management contact information. The
manager is available during working hours to assist you and
handle problems that might arise. If there is an emergency
you may contact her after hours. You may also contact us in
emergencies, 24 hours a day. We have maintenance people that
we use for different things, so let us know if something needs
to be repaired. We will do our best to get problems taken
care of as quickly as possible. We have a vast network of
contacts available to help. |
| Q |

concierge services available? |
